The hitch pin weight of 1400 lbs you stated is so close to your payload capacity, but that is not accounting for the 5th wheel hitch and rail weights or the loaded weight with cargo added. Tunda's are notorious for having a lower payload and in this case, I can't tell you it will be fine. The payload weight is spread out over the truck bed where the 5th wheel rails are mounted to the frame directly so are more secure. The Reese Above-Bed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch - 25,000 lbs, # RP58079, has a 2-5/16 inch hitch ball that is held in place with a snap ring. This design allows the hitch ball to rotate reducing binding with the gooseneck coupler. It has a nice powder coat finish to resist corrosion and the hitch ball is a durable, heat treated ball.

You should have no problem using the Convert-A-Ball Gooseneck Coupler Adapter, # CAB-C5G, on a 1,200 mile trip as long as the gross weight of your trailer remains under 20,000 lbs and the pin weight is under 4,000 lbs. We had one customer comment that he has been using his adapter for over 20,000 miles and it is still working great.
The only note I would add to this adapter is that there will be a noticeable difference in the ride quality if you are used to towing with a fifth wheel hitch.... view full answer...

Reese Elite underbed rails and the Ford hitch prep packages are the exact same underbed rail systems. Reese makes the kits for Ford. For more info on this check out the link I attached to the right.

I talked with my contact at Cequent and he stated that the life of a plastic lube plate can vary depending on several factors.
Pin weight, the smoothness of the components touching the plate, and where you are towing (dirt, gravel, highway) are all factors that can affect the life of the plastic lube plate.

An easy way to tell if your hubs were originally oil filled or packed with grease is to remove the cap of the hub. Typically, if it is a press-in cap it is a grease hub, and if it is a screw-in cap it is an oil bath hub.
Not only do semi trailers use oil bath hubs, there are many heavy duty trailers that will use them as well. If you have been putting grease in your hub so far and it has been working well for you, then I would just stay with the grease.

I have a solution for you but the etrailer Hitch Mounted Spare Tire Carrier item # e98ZR and other comparable spare tire carriers at that price range aren't rated for motorhome wheels/tires. The main issue is that the mounting system won't accommodate wheels with large bolt patterns like 8 on 6-1/2". That carrier can only support up to 6 lug wheels that weigh under 121 lbs.

The Curt 5th wheel hitches like # C16530-16017 are made overseas in Asia with steel from that region, but they are tested to meet US standards. Unless you are using a Sidewinder or have a Revolution pin box, I highly recommend you use a sliding 5th wheel hitch like # C16530-16020 or the B&W Companion Slider # BWRVK3370 which is made in the USA.
